2012-13 Undergraduate Affiliates

The Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities will welcome two undergraduate students as Institute Affiliates for terms of either two or three quarters beginning in the academic year 2012-2013. The purpose of the Undergraduate Affiliate Program is to foster cross-disciplinary discussion and provide a chance for undergraduates to interact with faculty and grad students from diverse fields in the humanities. Undergraduate Affiliates will form a critical part of our intellectual community, joining Institute Fellows, Faculty and Graduate Affiliates, participants in the DIALOGUE Series, and the Distinguished Harris Lecturer in a variety of interdisciplinary events across the academic year. Undergraduate Affiliates will be required to attend Wednesday Lunch Colloquia, the two Institute Dialogue Series Lectures, the annual Harris Lecture, and will collaboratively produce a new Institute blog.

Benefits of the Affiliate Program

• Meet faculty, doctoral students, and visiting scholars working in the humanities from a variety of departments and programs
• Enjoy the AKIH Wednesday Lunch Colloquia and other Institute events
• Work collaboratively to create the Institute's new blog
• Receive a stipend of $200 per quarter

Requirements

• Undergraduate Affiliates will be required to attend and take notes at Wednesday Lunch Colloquia, the two Institute Dialogue Series Lectures, and the annual Harris Lecture
• Undergraduate Affiliates will be responsible for writing the Institute's blog at the end of each quarter of their affiliateship, updating the University community on the specific events and programs taking place at the Institute

Eligibility

• Undergraduate Affiliateships are open to all undergraduates in the humanities from any school within NU
• Undergraduate Affiliates may not schedule classes on Wednesdays from 12:00-1:30pm, the time of the Institute's Lunch Colloquia
