Online Application Instructions
1. Please prepare PDF files in advance of applying (for a description of what files are needed, see below). Only then should you proceed to the Online Application Portal. All required fields must be filled in before you click on the "Submit Application" button. The system will not accept incomplete applications, and you cannot save an incomplete application and return to it at a later time.2. In the application portal, please complete the Official Contact Information and Academic Information sections.
3. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS SECTION. Please upload the following application documents (PDFs) in the application portal. No document may exceed 1M in size. File names should not contain parentheses, quotation marks, or other such characters:
Brief Personal Statement (1-2 pages) that includes:
- A description of the proposed curricular innovation and how it relates to the existing curriculum.
- Type and level of course, as well as any special requirements (laboratory hours, field research, etc.).
- Anticipated results of the curricular innovation.
Research Proposal (1 page)
Please provide a detailed budget of expenses, including notes on any funding this particular curricular initiative has received in the past, if applicable. Applicants may apply for up to $10,000 for field research expenses, software or hardware, and other expenses directly related to the course. Please note: The grant is not intended to fund faculty research except as it relates to undergraduate teaching.
Additional Materials
Evidence of department chair approval: please submit documentation of your department chair’s approval of your moving forward with work on this curricular innovation, and to run the course or co-list it through Humanities. A pdf of a brief email correspondence will suffice.
