Artist Engagement Initiative

The Kaplan Humanities Institute announces its new Artist Engagement Initiative!

This initiative seeks to expand interdisciplinary engagement among artists, faculty, and students across all programs and departments at Northwestern.

Building upon Kaplan’s longstanding support of arts programming at the university, this initiative will host one Artist in Residence each year and offer select grants to invite artists for co-curricular activities. Applications to the Kaplan Humanities Council are welcome from any unit at Northwestern, and for artists working in any medium or discipline.

The Artist Engagement Initiative launched in Spring 2023 with dedicated co-curricular grants to support engagement with artists in or beyond undergraduate or graduate classrooms. Faculty can apply throughout the year for funding to connect artists to their scholarly and pedagogical work.

Kaplan announced submission guidelines for the more expansive Artist in Residence program in December 2023. The revised program and call for applications can be reviewed here.
